About
Juliet Nneka is an illustrator and engineer based in the Netherlands. Trained in traditional media and self-taught in digital, she is known for her bold, figurative colour illustrations. Since 2021 she has created official variant covers for DC Comics, including Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and Nubia: Queen of the Amazons, alongside work for Penguin Random House, Marvel Snap and Amazon Studios, and a LiveDraw collaboration with Procreate. Her work has been exhibited in Miami, San Francisco and Lagos. She won Third Prize in the iCanvas Digital Art Award at the 2022 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize, and earlier received an Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award as the highest-scoring Art and Design candidate in Nigeria.
Juliet’s perspective as a scientist has informed her work as an artist and vice versa, and she holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering. In living tissue, structure is organised across scales, each level shaped by the others. Nneka’s autobiographical practice extends this concept to see story of us all in the same way. Events at one unseen scale are shaped by events at another, and she draws a distilled version through her own lens.
